Children’s Hospice South West’s annual Moonlight Memory Walk in Falmouth is fast approaching.

It takes place on Saturday, March 21, and the charity is encouraging anyone interested in taking part to get signed up.

This will be the 11th year of the event, which sees hundreds of people walking the five-mile route through Falmouth, out to Pendennis point and along Gylly beach – all in the name of charity.

Walkers take part in memory of their loved ones while also raising sponsorship to support the vital care CHSW offers to children suffering with life-limiting illnesses and their families at its Little Harbour hospice in St Austell.

Last year more than £20,000 was raised by those taking part in the Moonlight Memory Walk and it was the first year that the event was opened up to men as well as women.

Kiley Pearce, events fundraiser for CHSW, is encouraging those who haven’t signed up yet to do so soon.

She said: “Over 200 people have already signed up to walk the Moonlight Memory Walk on the evening and some have signed up to our virtual option meaning they will still raise sponsorship, but walk in their own time.

"The evening is very poignant for everyone taking part in memory of their loved ones, but it’s also really uplifting and it is a real celebration and positive night.”

Tickets for the Moonlight Memory Walk cost £12, which includes a t-shirt to wear on the evening, pasty, hot drink and a marshalled route to follow.

For those unable to make it on the evening there is the opportunity to get involved virtually and join the memory ceremony via Facebook Live.
