A WOMAN lost her jobs because of the coronavirus pandemic has bounced back by opening a cupcake shop in Porthleven.
Bethany Harrington set up Truly Cornish Cupcakes and Bakes in 2017, debuting in a gazebo on Porthleven Harbour Head.
Since then she has run the business alongside two other jobs, offering bespoke cupcakes and bakes and building up a customer base.
But, like for many others, the pandemic has changed the course of Bethany's life.

She said: "When the pandemic struck I lost both of my other jobs, so things looked quite scary for me.
"I had to do something to keep myself occupied and take my mind off of the situation, so I decided to spend lockdown developing the business, creating new recipes and drive it to where I always wanted it to go.
"I wasn't sure if it would make any difference, but I've always been a hard worker and nothing tried nothing gained.
"I had my eye on the premises in Porthleven for a while, so I decided to take one last punt at using it as my cake shop and was granted permission.
"Hard work pays off and you can always make the best of a bad situation if you put your mind to it."
She has now opened up at Chapel Terrace, Porthleven, and the shop will also act as her headquarters for her bespoke orders and she also hopes to offer hot drinks soon.
Bethany added: "Having a shop will allow me to expand into fulfilling more orders, and hopefully to work full time on my own business.
"I am looking forward to seeing more of my regular customers and meeting lots of new faces too now I have my shop in Porthleven."
The shop will be open to the public every Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, starting this weekend.
Around those times Bethany will continue to create bespoke cupcakes and wedding cakes for private orders and wholesale clients.
