Officers are now appealing for any witnesses or people with mobile phone footage to come forward after the incident at Perranporth on Friday, July 17.
Police said it happened in the rock pools area of the beach at around 6pm.
A spokesperson for the force said: "The boy was attacked after confronting a member of a group – consisting of at least two men and three women, drinking whisky – after he threw a plastic cup into a rock pool.
"Then, one of the women and two of the men assaulted the boy, causing a laceration to his head and ear which required 11 stitches.
"The group are described as having London accents.
"The man who smashed the whisky bottle on the boy’s head is described as being a white male, around 20 years of age, with blond hair, of stocky build and around 5ft 9ins in height. He was wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts.
"The other offender, who hit the boy after he’d been hit with the bottle, is described as being of slim build, around 5ft 7ins in height and wearing a light blue top."
Police are appealing for anyone who may be able to help identify the offenders, including mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV footage of the area at the time, to get in touch.
