An employee at The Eden Project has been found dead, writes John Bett.
The man, in his 40s, died in a "non-public" area at the famous ecology centre in Par on Tuesday (July 28).
Devon and Cornwall Police said that the death is not being treated as suspicious and that a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Last week the attraction announced it was having to make more than 200 people redundant.
A spokesperson for the company described the death as "heartbreaking", and it comes just after they announced hundreds of jobs would be cut.
The spokesperson said: "We can confirm with great sadness that a member of staff at the Eden Project died in a non-public area of the site on Tuesday, July 28.
"Emergency services attended at our request.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with our colleague's family and friends and with everyone affected by this heart-breaking event.
"We have put in place specialist support to offer comfort and assistance."
Police were called to the site after reports came in of concern for the man's welfare on Tuesday.
A police spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended the site where the man, in his 40s, was confirmed deceased.
"His next of kin have been informed.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
