A MAN was rescued after his boat capsized in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Falmouth’s Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Robina Nixon Chard launched at 2.15am on Wednesday after HM Coastguard received a report of a person on a small boat in St Mawes needing assistance.
The man had climbed aboard the boat after capsizing his tender.
A spokesperson for Falmouth RNLI said: "The inshore lifeboat with crew members Jamie Connolly (helm), Tom Bird, Tamara Brookes and Joe Amps on board, arrived on scene at 2.23am and located the casualty.
"He was transferred to the lifeboat, where he explained his tender had turned over so he swam back to the shore with it and pulled it up on the beach.
"The casualty then decided to swim out to his boat, which was on a visitors mooring in St Mawes, but after a short distance he decided it was too far so climbed aboard another boat with the intention of staying there for the night.
"However, after becoming cold he called the Coastguard from his mobile phone."
Inshore lifeboat helm Jamie Connolly said: "Once on board the lifeboat, the casualty said he didn’t need any further medical assistance and asked to go back to his boat on the mooring."
The lifeboat was released from service at 2.36am and returned to station.
