TWO people have sustained what police have described as "severe injuries" after a crash on the A30 near to Loggans at Hayle.
Devon and Cornwall Police said it was called, along with the fire service and ambulance service, shortly at 3pm on Tuesday, September 22.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Two vehicles were involved with both drivers sustaining severe injuries. It would appear that one of the vehicles was trying to perform a U turn.
"Both drivers were taken to Treliske Hospital, Truro, and the road was closed for some time whilst an investigation took place. Diversions were directed through Connor Downs.
"Once a full examination of the scene had been completed, the road was reopened.
"Police would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed.
"They would also like to take the opportunity to remind all road users that the ‘No U turn’ signs have been placed on the carriageway for serious safety reasons. It is a very dangerous manoeuvre which has caused a number of fatalities over the years.
"Thanks is also extended to those members of public who stopped to help and administer first aid. Your assistance was very much appreciated."
Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision, particularly those who may have captured dashcam footage.
Phone 101, quoting log number 506 of September 22, 2020.
