The latest figures for positive coronavirus test results in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly have been recorded and they show that as of 4.01 pm today (Wednesday), 35 new cases had been recorded in the last 24 hours.
It brings the total number of positive test results recorded in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to 2,220 since the start of the pandemic.
This represents a rate of 388.2 cases per 100,000 people since the start of the pandemic, which is still far lower than many parts of the country.
There have been 272 cases confirmed in the past seven days, representing a weekly rate of 47.6 cases per 100,000 people.
Nationally, there have been 24,701 new cases recorded in the UK during the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 942,275 since the start of the pandemic.
The most recent figures from the Office National Statistics, which update every Tuesday, showed that there have been no new deaths relating to coronavirus in Cornwall registered in the preceding week.
The statistics from the ONS, which has been collating data for deaths in all settings, including hospitals, care homes and the wider community, relate to the week of October 10 to October 16, but were registered up to October 24.
One death of a Cornish person in hospital that occurred in the week of April 18 to 24 has been backdated into the data this week.
The county’s most recent hospital death since September 22 was reported on Saturday, October 10.
The total number of hospital deaths in Cornwall remain at 94, with 68 of them recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and 26 at the Cornwall Partnerships NHS Trust.
It means that Cornwall's overall coronavirus death toll remains at 213 in the ONS figures.
There have been no further deaths in Cornwall in the last 24 hours, but nationally a further 174 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 32,291.
Patients were aged between 33 and 102 years old. All except four (aged 61 to 87 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
Date of death ranges from March 27 to October 27, with the majority being on or after October 20.
Their families have been informed.
There have been three deaths recorded in the south west in the past 24 hours.
