The Aaron Pill murder trial looks set to continue after one of the defendant's cell mates tested positive for Covid.
The jury was dramatically sent home yesterday morning after His Honour Judge Simon Carr received an e-mail telling him that the Liam Bastow's cellmate had contracted the disease.
The court was adjourned and the jury sent home while the judge considered the position.
The hearing resumed this morning with barristers appearing from their offices and Bastow appearing by video link from his prison cell.
Judge Carr told the court that the majority of jurors were prepared to return next week if needed.
He was told that the other defendant Kane Coggin had not had a covid test as promised by the prison governor but was in the cells downstairs.
He said this was unacceptable and he would find out why. The court was adjourned .
It is thought that the jury will be brought back this afternoon for the trial to continue. It will not sit tomorrow (Friday) but will return for a final day on Monday for the case to be concluded.
Liam Bastow and Kane Coggin from Mylor Bridge are both charged with murdering Falmouth man Aaron Pill on May 4 this year.
Coggin, of Meadowbank and Bastow, aged 24, of Avalon Close have admitted manslaughter but deny murder.
