A Cornish dairy has been chosen by Spar to provide its brand of milk and yoghurt to more than 280 stores.
The new listings will join the existing Trewithen Dairy range of clotted cream and butter stocked by Spar stores across the south west and into wider southern England.
Trewithen Dairy in Loswithiel is owned and run by the Clarke family, who have owned Greymare Farm in the Glynn Valley since 1976 and started crafting dairy products there in March 1994.
Francis Clarke, Trewithen Dairy managing director said: “Not all milk is the same. Many urban consumers might believe cows are just cows, grass is just grass and therefore milk is just milk. Nothing could be further from the truth.
"We put particular attention on the farmers who supply us, each of which share the values of Trewithen Dairy and instinctively want to develop a farming business fit for future generations.”

In the early days the Clarkes had their own herd and cooked the clotted cream themselves in open trays and potted it by hand.
By 2001 the milk bottling and cream making side of the business had become so successful that the decision had to be made whether to continue dairy farming or switch completely over to crafting dairy products. The family sold their herd and moved full time into producing milk, cream and butter, and more recently, yoghurt.
Joe Dooley, trading and marketing director for Appleby Westward, the Spar retail distribution centre in the West Country, said: “We have taken the decision to source our milk from Trewithen Dairy, to offer our customers a quality product, sustainably sourced from Cornish Farms and giving excellent value for money.”
Trewithen Dairy’s milk was rolled out in Spar stores in September and their yoghurt will appear on the shelves from December 7.
