Two women accused of assisting the men jailed for the murder of Aaron Pill in Falmouth last year have appeared in court to answer charges.
Brea Coggin, aged 22 of Avalon Close, Mylor Bridge, and Georgia Potter, aged 51 of Meadowbank, Mylor Bridge, appeared before Truro Crown Court this morning where two charges were put before each of them.
The first charge was of assisting an offender, in that between May 3, 2020 and May 9, 2020, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, they facilitated transport to move Liam Bastow and Kane Coggin, and their clothing, away from a crime scene and gave false statements to police in relation to their movements.
The second charge was of perverting the course of justice, in that between May 3, 2020 and May 9, 2020, they did an act intending to pervert the course of justice by facilitating transport to move Liam Bastow and Kane Coggin, and their clothing, away from a crime scene and gave false statements to police in relation to movements, intending that he course of justice should thereby be perverted.
Both Brea Coggin and Georgia Potter pleaded not guilty to both charges.
A pre-trial review hearing will now take place in May, at which both defendants will be expected to attend, with a trial date currently set for August 23 this year. The trial is expected to last for four days.
The women had both been due to appear at Truro Crown Court for today's plea and directions hearing back on January 11, but the case was moved to today (Friday, January 22) because one of the women was isolating due to coronavirus.
Last year Kane Coggin, of Meadowbank, Mylor Bridge and Liam Bastow, of Avalon Close, Mylor Bridge were convicted of murder in relation to the death of Aaron Pill at his home in Tresawle Road, Falmouth on May 4.
