The number of deaths in Cornwall's hospitals involving patients testing positive for Covid-19 has risen for the third day in a row.
A further three people have died at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, bringing the total number of deaths relating to the virus in the Trust's hospitals to 116.
It follows another three people confirmed in yesterday's update and ten on Wednesday, across Cornwall's two hospital trusts.
It brings the total number of deaths relating to the virus in Cornwall's hospitals to 152, including 36 at the Cornwall Partnerships NHS Trust.
The overall total number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – has risen to 264 recorded in the 28 days after a positive test result, including nine today.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 simply on the death certificate remains at 257 on the government dashboard, with this figure updated weekly.
Nationally, a further 993 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died in hospitals in England in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 65,104.
Patients were aged between 23 and 102 years old. All except 47 (aged 32 to 96 years old) had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.
The dates of their deaths ranged from December 12 to January 21.
In the UK overall, another 1,401 people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.
This brings the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 95,981. These figures included people in care home and other settings.
The latest Covid-19 case information for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has also now been updated.
As of 4pm today (Friday, January 22) there had been 172 new cases in the region recorded in the previous 24 hours.
The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic now sits at 11,190.
There were 1,419 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to January 17. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.
This represents a weekly rate of 248.2 cases per 100,000 people.
The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has also increased by 40,261 in 24 hours.
This brings the total to 3,583,907 nationally since the start of the pandemic.
As of today (Friday, January 23), 5,383,103 people in the UK have received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 466,796 people had received their second dose.
