A mysteriously-coloured liquid has been spotted pouring out of a pipe in Tregoniggie woodland.
The blue-white coloured liquid was seen by two Falmouth locals who were out walking on the nature reserve earlier today (Friday).
According to Rob Brown, one of the walkers who spotted the odd-coloured water, the liquid smelt like acrylic and continued to pour out of the pipe and downstream for around 40 minutes.
After discovering it, Rob contacted the Environment Agency and sent in the pictures and videos he took to them.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "Environment Agency staff completed a full surface water drain investigation yesterday on the Industrial Estate which we believe caused the polluting discharge.
"This involved lifting manholes to try to detect which branch of the drainage system the pollution may have come from in order to narrow down the search area.
"Unfortunately this did not lead us to any obvious units so we were not able to confirm where the pollution had arisen.
"Officers will be conducting further investigations."
Cornwall Council also have an environmental protection team that investigates and takes necessary actions to protect people and the environment from pollution and certain statutory nuisances.
However it is the responsibility of the Environment Agency to deal with pollution to water sources.
If you need to report suspected pollution to rivers or streams, the EA can be contacted on 03708 506 506 Mon - Fri 8am - 6pm or, to report a serious pollution incident, their 24 hour helpline is 0800 807060.
