Yesterday, (Wednesday, April 7) Falmouth Town Council’s Environmental Officers along with volunteers from the Bosvale Community Centre, Falmouth Green Corridor, Prislow Woods Group, The Dracaena Centre, Plastic Free Falmouth, Rob Coleman and his litter pick group plus volunteers from the local community came together on a mammoth task to clear the historic accumulation of litter and household fly tips from the beautiful Bosvale Woods and stream.

Although local groups have tried to keep on top of the litter by doing regular litter picks, the accumulation of historic household fly tips in this area was just too much of a mountain for any individual to remove.

A spokesman for Falmouth Town Council said: "A totally heartwarming scene was found in this beautiful little area today when 30 individuals came together in socially isolated groups to remove sofas from streams, old mattresses out of hedges, and black sacks after black sacks full of litter and waste.

"One skip was ordered with support from Falmouth Town Councillors, but this was quickly filled within the hour resulting in the quick re-order of another skip.

"The joy of seeing the stream running freely for the first time in many, many years and the tweeting of the birds and the rustling of the trees seems like nature was clapping this momentous task.

"We would like to say a massive thank you to everybody who came down and gave up their time to clear up after others.

"May this be a message to everybody to not to drop litter, don’t throw/dump your unwanted items in our green spaces, and consider nature.

"We need to look after our natural environment and keep our green spaces beautiful for everybody to use. Let’s continue to look after our environment and show it the love it deserves."
