DJ and radio presenter Freddy Zapp is heading back onto the Cornish airwaves from this weekend.
Freddy was a weekend presenter at Radio Cornwall for 27 years up until March last year, when his show was a victim of the BBC's restructuring programme.
He is now set for a return to the radio after joining the team at Goldmine, the DAB station based at Penstraze, Truro that serves Cornwall, Plymouth, part of West Devon and Bristol.
Zapp, a colourful and flamboyant character who has raised thousands for charity with his annual Christmas lights switch on at his house in Redruth, was a personal friend of the late 'Screaming' Lord Such and fought parliamentary elections for the Monster Raving Looney Party.
Specialising in music from the 1960s and Rock 'N' Roll, Freddy will be joining the weekend team at Goldmine to present the Saturday afternoon slot from 1pm to 3pm.
It will also see him reunited with former Radio Cornwall presenter Duncan Warren, who launched the South West's Goldmine in January 2019 and presents the weekday Solid Gold Breakfast Programme.
Zapp is the third presenter to join the Goldmine team recently. Chris Dinnis, who originally launched his career in the South West, has taken over the Saturday Breakfast Show and former BBC World News Correspondent Jonathan Charles presents on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Freddy makes his debut with 'The Big Jukebox' this Saturday (April 24) at 1pm.
The South West's Goldmine can be heard on DAB, Smart Speakers, the phone app and online.
