A Helston-based coffee hut has teamed up with the local community larder to spread the word about its 'pay it forward' scheme.
The Coffee Hut Helston is still running its 'pay it forward' scheme - where customers can pay in advance for someone else’s meal or hot drink so that someone who is in need – whether they are down on their luck, lost their purse, out of work or even homeless - can access a meal or drink and even some comfort for a while.
The scheme has been used across the country in order to help those who might not have the money to buy their own food, those sleeping rough, or emergency services works such as nurses or paramedics.
In order to help spread the word about the scheme, The Coffee Hut Helston has teamed up with the Helston Community Larder, who are now giving out the vouchers to raise awareness of the scheme and also help people who might need it get a hot drink.
In a post on its social media channel, The Coffee Hut Helston said: "Just before the first March 2020 lockdown we launched a ‘Pay it Forward’ scheme at the hut.

"We have already received SO many generous donations which we are so so grateful for.
"The idea of ‘Pay It Forward’ is that you can pay in advance for someone else’s meal / hot drink so that someone who is in need – whether they’re down on their luck, struggling financially, lost their purse, out of work or even homeless can access a meal or drink and even some comfort for a while.
"So in these difficult times, if you’re struggling, we welcome you to come and have a coffee, some lunch or a cake without having to worry about the cost.
"And if there’s anyone who would like to help and contribute to the pay it forward scheme, next time you’re in and buying a coffee why not buy one but pay for two and we’ll put the extra in our Pay it Forward kitty."
The Coffee Hut Helston can be found at 1 Coineagehall Street, Helston.
Helston Community Larder runs every Tuesday and Friday, 2.30pm-4.30pm at Helston Family Hub.
