Members of the Falmouth Pilot Gig Club have raised £3,000 for Dementia UK by rowing and cycling to Cadgwith in memory of two club stalwarts David Muirhead and Steve Allen, who slipped their anchors far too early having suffered from this terrible disease.
Two mixed crews rowed the gigs Governor and Greenbank, from the Watersports Centre, the 15 miles to Cadgwith, whilst other members cycled from Falmouth to the picturesque cove on the Lizard.
Organiser of both events was Debbie Maxted who said: “In the past three years we have lost two special members of our gig family - David 'Tatty' Muirhead and Steve Allen.
"Both were long-time members of our club and both did an enormous amount of work for us over many years. They were fast friends too and they are both very sorely missed.”
