A number of free swimming sessions are being provided by GLL at leisure centres across the county.
'Better leisure centres' across Cornwall are offering free public swimming sessions to improve water skills in the wake of lockdown closures caused by the pandemic.
GLL, is working in partnership with Active Cornwall and Cornwall Council on the countywide initiative which is being funded by the Active Recovery Fund Project.
The companies Head of Service in Cornwall James Curry explained why these free sessions are so important, especially for those who don't know how to swim. He said: “Swimming is an important life skill – particularly in a county that has such an extensive coastline.”
“Each of our centres will provide a free, weekly hour-long session that is open to anyone.”
The Better leisure centres taking part are Bude, Saltash, Wadebridge, Launceston, Bodmin, Liskeard, Newquay, Truro, St Austell, Helston, St Ives and Ships and Castles in Falmouth.
Session times and start dates vary and booking is advisable for all swimmers, including under threes.
For more details on dates and times of the free swimming sessions you can visit the website visit www.better.org.uk/leisure-centre/cornwall or download the 'Better' app or contact your local centre.
