A musician described as "one of the UK's most exciting Jazz and Blues guitarists" is coming to Cornwall after the pandemic delayed his original plans to perform in the Duchy.
The Remi Harris Jazz & Blues Project is coming to Penzance and will be appearing at The Acorn on Thursday November 18 before continuing on to perform in St Austell at the St Austell Arts Centre on Friday November 19 as part of Remi’s rescheduled autumn 2021 tour.
Remi draws inspiration from artists such as Django Reinhardt, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery and Led Zeppelin and he has performed at some of the most renowned events and venues in the world, including the Montreal Jazz Festival, Buckingham Palace, BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall with Jamie Cullum, on BBC Four Television and live on BBC Radio two & three.
At the British Jazz Awards 2017, Remi came second place in the ‘Guitarist of the Year’ category - being beaten to the top slot by legendary Martin Taylor MBE, who describes Remi as “brilliant”.
Audiences will be treated to a night of eclectic musical entertainment, showcasing music ranging from the acoustic jazz and swing of the 30s and 40s, to the electric blues of the 60s and 70s.
Those attending the performances are told to expect new spins on jazz standards, improvisations, and original compositions from Remi’s keenly anticipated new album Forward.
