Continuing the Falmouth community tradition, the Town Team are once again seeking an individual or group to switch on the lights on

The event takes place on Thursday November 25 at 7pm kick-starts the towns festive season.

The Town Team have said is a person or group who after a public vote, gets to switch on the lights for that year and that now is the time to nominate individuals or groups residents feel is worthy of the task.

Richard Gates, Falmouth Town Manager said: "The Christmas Lights Switch-on is a real testament to the strength of Falmouth’s community spirit and we as a team, feel that this year’s event is more important than ever.

"As a result, we would encourage as many of you as possible to send in nominations and make the judging panel’s job even harder than usual!

"The event of course isn’t possible without the huge support and assistance we get, from the Christmas Working Group and volunteers to financial support from Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID, so thank you to everyone who has got involved."

Alongside the switching on of the lights, the Town Team have also announced that, after a two-year hiatus due to Covid, plans are well underway to bring Falmouth’s Festive Weekend back, by popular demand, on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 of December.

The Festive Weekend will run from 11.00am until 6.00pm across both days, subject to weather and any future Covid-related Government policies, and will see a number of the ‘fan favourites’ making a reappearance.

These include the festive land train, which will once again run between The Moor and Events Square, connecting the town with the various activities taking place.

An artificial ice-rink on Events Square will also be erected and the town's streets will even feature snow.

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth BID Manager said: "We’re thrilled to be in a position to organise the Falmouth Festive Weekend once again.

"We know how popular the 2019 event was and, despite the huge challenges we have faced in respect of organising events this year, there was a determination to do this, if possible.

Businesses, residents and organisations have responded so well and supported our efforts, and we’ve pushed resources and budgets as much as we are able, to realise a packed schedule for all to enjoy safely."
