After last week's Christmas lights switch-on, Falmouth’s Festive Weekend is coming back by popular demand following a two year hiatus because of Covid.
On Thursday Andrea Fifield and Pete Marland were presented with a voucher for Sunday lunch at The Greenbank Hotel as a thank you for switching on the lights in a ceremony that took place on The Moor along with choirs and dancers.
Andrea and Pete were nominated to perform the task in thanks for their efforts in sewing PPE during the pandemic.

Following the switch-on, The Falmouth Festive Weekend will take place at outdoor sites across the town including Events Square, The Moor and Church Street car park on Saturday, December 11 and Sunday, December 12.
The inaugural event in 2019 was a big success, with many enjoying the wide range of activities that had been organised by the Falmouth Town Team, a partnership between the town council and the Falmouth BID team with this year’s offer promising even more!
The Festive Weekend will run from 11am until 6pm across both days, subject of course to the weather and any future Covid-related Government policies, and will see a number of the "fan favourites" making a reappearance.
These include the festive land train, which will run once again between The Moor and Events Square, connecting the town with the activities; an artificial ice-rink on Events Square; and even more snowy streets! A live performance stage on The Moor will welcome local bands and choirs complemented once again, by street performers and entertainers through the town.
And new for 2021, the town Team have organised a giant snow globe, perfect for family selfies, which will be located on The Moor, a vintage fair on Church Street Car Park with helter-skelter and "yesteryear" stalls such as coconut shy and strong man, and an artificial ice-curling lane on Events Square.
Tickets will be £2 each per ride/go for the festive land train, artificial ice-rink and helterskelter, £1 per vintage stall and free (with suggested donations) for the giant snow globe. All proceeds will go back into the Falmouth Christmas events fund for 2022.
Businesses have engaged with the Town Team and schedule via the Christmas Working Group, and the wider business community is being encouraged to engage further by partaking in a best-dressed festive window competition with the aim of adding even more sparkle and colour to the proceedings. Volunteers from the Cruise Ship Ambassadors as well as others, have stepped forward to help, ensuring once again this event will be a real community effort.
Falmouth BID manager Richard Wilcox said: “We’re thrilled to be in a position to organise the Falmouth Festive Weekend once again. We know how popular the 2019 event was and, despite the huge challenges we have faced in respect of organising events this year, there was a determination to do this, if possible.
"Businesses, residents and organisations have responded so well and supported our efforts, and we’ve pushed resources and budgets as much as we are able, to realise a packed schedule for all to enjoy safely.”
