The presents have been opened and the turkey eaten, next comes the big clean-up. If your bins are usually overflowing during the festive period, here’s when you can take a trip to the tip over Christmas.
Along with being “the most wonderful time of the year”, Christmas is also a time of accumulating rubbish and recycling – from wrapping paper to old electrical items, in with the new generally means out with the old.
With all this waste, it’s handy if you can get rid of some of it without having to wait for the next kerbside collection.

So, if you do end up with excess household waste that can’t be collected with your rubbish or recycling this Christmas, you can take it to one of the 14 household waste and recycling centres across Cornwall.
For anyone heading to the tip, if you are using a commercial vehicle designed to carry goods, or any large trailer, you will need a vehicle permit.
Also, for safety reasons, no public pedestrian access is allowed through the entrance or exit gates of any of the recycling centres so don’t head there on foot or you and your rubbish will be turned away.
For more information, visit the Cornwall Council website.
