Police in Cornwall are investigating reports of a rape on a female in Launceston and are appealing for witnesses and information.
The incident was reported to have taken place on Madford Lane, between 00:25am and 01:05am Sunday, January 30.
It was reported that the victim was approached by two unknown men and assaulted in a nearby alleyway.
The victim, a woman in her 40s, is being supported by specialist officers.
Both men are described as wearing tracksuit bottoms.
One wore a white hooded top and the other a dark hooded top.
Investigating officers are keen to identify and speak to a possible witness, a man who was walking his dog at around 00.30am.
It is thought he spoke to the victim near to two churches and The Bell Inn.
Detective Inspector Glenn Willcocks said: "Our enquiries remain ongoing into this incident and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything which may assist out investigation, to get in touch via 101."
Police enquiries remain ongoing in relation to this matter.
Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/008565/22.
