The latest daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for today indicate 582 new people testing positive, down on yesterday's figure of 657.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay.

The latest data shows a combined 5,353 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Monday, January 31, down on yesterday's total of 5,370 The weekly case rate average has fallen slightly to 930.1 cases per 100,000 people, down from 933.1on yesterday's figure.

For this figure, the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 112,236.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK is 60,578 new cases, down on yesterday's figure of 84,053 cases. This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 17,749,999.

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall up to Tuesday, February 1 – the most recent data given by the government updated weekly - there were 58 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals and 22 patients in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust hospitals. One patient is in a ventilation bed.

National healthcare update shows a total of 14,634 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of Thursday, February 3, the most recent data, with 478 in ventilation beds - down again on yesterday's figure of 483.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic still stands at 367.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stands at 300 with a further death reported on January 27. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure remained at 67.

The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – has risen to 670 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case, including reported two in the last 24 hours.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is updated weekly and sits at 755 from data available this week. It shows that ten new deaths occurred in the week ending Friday, January 21.

The overall UK figures show 259 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, up from 254 on yesterday.

Total UK deaths since the start of the pandemic now stands at 158,243.

Up to Friday, February 4, a total of 52,413,781 people in the UK had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 48,549,079 had their second dose. A total of 37,493,486 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall, 462,090 had their first jab while 435,967 had their second and 360,661 are reported to have had their third dose or booster.
