A BEACH cafe had to give into Mother Nature today after they lost an all day battle against gusts of wind that literally tore the roof off.
Posting on Facebook, the owners of the Poldhu Beach Cafe Ross and Natalie Hocking said it was lucky that no one was hurt after strong winds lifted the flat roof on over the terrace off, sliced the telephone wire smashed their truck mirror ands damaged the paintwork as well as damaging other parts of the cafe.
Ross and Natalie have vowed to be open tomorrow as usual from 10 until 4 but it will be cash only until the phone lines are up and running.
Posting on Facebook they said: "Mother Nature wins today!! Luckily no one was hurt. Our flat roof lost in a battle against the gusts, sliced our telephone wire, smashed my truck mirror and damaged paintwork, also parts of the cafe have been damaged."
"We will be OPEN tomorrow (Monday) as usual 10-4 but will be CASH ONLY until we get our phone lines back up and running

Strong winds of up to 40 mph and rain have battered the coasts of Cornwall today with the winds and rain forecast to ease this evening and a quieter day tomorrow.
