An aspiring paramedic from Cornwall is currently running her way through a marathon fundraiser in order to raise money for one of Cornwall's most vital emergency services.

Phoebe Albone, 16, from Ruan Minor has set herself the challenge of running 70 miles in the next 35 days in order to help raise funds for the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Phoebe explained her reasoning for wanting to get out and raise some money due to the fact that Cornwall Air Ambulance receive no government funding and relies on donations from the public to run its services.

Speaking to The Packet, Phoebe said: "I thought it would be a good idea to raise money as they're a much needed service down here.

"I want to be a paramedic, so I wanted to be helpful.

"I'm off to do Health Science at college in September."

Phoebe went on to explain that she had no particular route when it came to clocking up the miles and that she was just taking them as they come by running roughly two miles a night.

Phoebe continued: "I'm just kind of taking it day by day and just going for it really.

"I used to go to the gym quite regularly, but I'd stopped that so I'm just kind of building myself back up really.

"I'm a bit achey today, but I'm working my way up and it's getting easier."

Phoebe also mentioned that she'd found a decent amount of support after having posted the fundraiser and was making some serious progress towards her target.

"I've been posting about my progress on Facebook and Instagram and I've had quite a few donations so far.

"I've raise £215, and my target is £250, so I'm 75 per cent of the way there.

"If people want to follow my Facebook and track my progress it's 'Phoebe Albone,' and I'd be very grateful for any donations."
