A FIRE at a pizza takeaway in the centre of Falmouth which forced the closure of Killigrew Street this morning, was soon followed by another blaze at another restaurant.
Firefighters were called to the Brother's Pizza opposite The Moor at around 11.53pm on Saturday night. Around an hour later another fire was reported at the Bodega 18 Restaurant in Arwenack Street.
Packet reporter Thomas Harris was on the scene of the Brother's Pizza and said two fire engines and one police car have left the scene.
Another eyewitness Mark Thomas told the Packet: "Unsure of what’s going on, but there’s firefighters inside venting out right now, the flats above have been evacuated. Police have just released a cordon.
"Not sure what’s going on, but the flats above have been evacuated, it’s been going on for about an hour now, several police vehicles and two fire engines from Falmouth turned up at around 11:30pm.
"There was another fire at Bodega too, happened at the same time. Arwenack Street closed off."

A spokesman from Cornwall Fire Control said a small fire at Brother's Pizza was put out.
"Crews from Falmouth have attended a pizza shop in the town centre to extinguish a small fire. A crew wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel extinguished the fire and isolated the utilities. Police have closed the road whilst the incident is ongoing."
Of the Arwenack Road fire they said: “Appliances from Falmouth and Helston responded to this incident. On arrival firefighters discovered that the property was smoke logged and a fire involving a cooker. Breathing apparatus and hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire. This incident has been classed as accidental.”
This afternoon Bodega Tapas Restaurant Manager told the Packet that "Everybody was fine and no one was hurt. That was all there really is about it."
The Packet has attempted to contact Brothers Pizza for an update.
