The Ukranian flag is to be raised above the council building in Falmouth after it was purchased by the mayor.

The show of solidarity comes as Russia's attacks on Ukranian cities intensify with thousands of civilians reported dead.

Falmouth mayor Steve Eva has purchased the flag and it is expected to arrive next week when it will be hoisted above the council building on The Moor.

"We feel that we as a town should show support for the people of Ukraine who through no fault of theirs are suffering an assault by Russia

"We felt that we could fly a Ukrainian flag from the council building

"I have therefore purchased a flag which when arrives will be flown

"The purchase of the flag has come from the Mayoral budget from which some I have set aside for charity use."
