A woman from Falmouth has been committed to prison after an assault in her hometown last month.
Siobhan Jade Osborne, 22, of Ferndale Road in Falmouth appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates' Court on February 28 having pleaded guilty to two offences that took place less than a week earlier.
Osborne pleaded guilty to common assault, which can carry a maximum sentence of 6 months imprisonment.
She also pleaded guilty to theft, having stolen a pair of earrings and a watch to the value of £24.90.
Osborne was committed to prison for 12 weeks due to the seriousness of her offence, with the court noting: "Offence so serious because of a deliberate attack on a public servant carrying out public duties, because the offence was aggravated by the defendant's record of previous offending."
She was also made to pay compensation of £50.
When it came to the theft offence, Osborne received no separate penalty, but was made to pay compensation of £24.
The court also noted that, for the common assault offence, the defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence.
