The 36 final was played in good sunny but cool conditions in front of a large crowd. The format was a foursome match play.
Falmouth knew it would be a tough day having to give Porthpean 58 shots on the day.
After the morning round, Falmouth were down in two matches up in two matches and all square in one. It was "nip and tuck" and all to play for.
The afternoon rounds commenced at 12.30 Ashley Bennett & Dave Blizzard were the first point on the board winning convincingly eight and seven.
The second point for Falmouth came from Grant Nicholls & vice-captain Nick Chinn winning seven and six. Falmouth looked comfortable but try as they would they couldn`t put that third and crucial point on the board.
The front match went to the 36th hole when Porthpean's Jeremy Maude Sank a 25-foot putt to beat Ben Browning & Matt Morrison who had previously won in every round.
The pairing of Charlie Scorse & Crispen Merritt were four down then fought back incredibly including a birdie on 17 to go one down with one to play.
Charlie played a superb approach shot to the 18th green that was enough to win 18 and take the match to the 37th hole.
Porthpean' s pairing of Tony Kellow and Peter Bradbury made use of their extra shot and won the final hole.
The last match was Luke Geach & James Dempsey who also fought back from three down to force a playoff on the 37th hole. James hit a great drive and Luke hit a superb shot to the only temporary green on the course but again Porthpean s Steve Arthur and Phil Williams used their extra shot which proved too much for Falmouth who lost the extra hole and consequently the match.
