Aldi has announced the opening date of its newest store in Cornwall, which will be opening its doors in under three weeks.
The new store on Garras Wharf in Truro will replace the existing store on Highertown and will be run by store manager Stephen Sawyers, along with a team of around 30 colleagues from the local community.
It will open on Thursday, April 7, at 8am with a special guest, Olympic silver medallist rower Frances Houghton.
Aldi store manager Stephen Sawyers said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Truro. It’s set to be a special day and having Olympic hero Frances Houghton join us will make it a morning to remember.”
Rowing star Frances Houghton added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB.”
The new Aldi store is calling on local charities and food banks in Truro to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.
Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to seven days a week.
Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email aldi@neighbourly.com
The new store will be open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 10pm, and Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
It has been built in Newham Road on the site of the former B&M and Office Outlet, with the previous building demolished to make way for the new supermarket and car park.
