Children from all over Cornwall gathered at Trannack near Helston this morning for a popular annual cross country race.
Coose Trannack Cross Country Run sees children enter from schools all over the Duchy, to compete on the Millennium Woodland course at Trannack School.
Planted by the Woodland Trust in 2000, in conjunction with the school, the woodland is open all year round to the public and forms the basis of a challenging course run by reception children through to under 16s in varying lengths.
The weather could not have been better, with blue skies and a slight breeze as the school year races began at 9.35am with the secondary school race for under 13s and under 16s, with staggered start times.
This was followed by races going up through the primary school years with reception at 10am over a 300m distance, through to year six 1,800m. They ended around 1pm, finishing with the 4.8km adults race for anyone aged 16 and over, which was run for fun.
After the races a presentation ceremony took place in the playground for primary schools, with certificates handed out to winners in each year group along with under 13 and under 16 medals.
Writing after the event, the organisers said: "Coose has come back after its two-year break with a bang! Thank you to all that ran, and congratulations to those that placed in their events.
"A massive thank you to our sponsors for this year: Cornwall County Council, Helstonbury Music Festival and Phoenix Signs.
"Lastly, to all the volunteers that came together for Team Coose, thank you – without you the events wouldn't happen."
The full list of results is due to be published on Monday and the Packet will update the article when they have been received.
