Pupils at a primary school on the Lizard Peninsula have done their bit to raise money and donations for the Ukraine crisis, including a video of them singing the Bill Withers classic Lean on Me.

Coverack Primary School also held a cake sale and raised an incredible £351.70.

The year six students wanted to do help after hearing about the devastating situation in Ukraine, so in addition to holding a cake sale, they also decided to hold a non-school uniform day and a yellow and blue themed day – the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

Not only were donations of cakes given to the school, there was also donations of toiletries, nappies, baby wipes and other items.

Lorraine Brown, a key stage two teacher at the school said she was "blown away" by the support of friends and family, and also members of the community, adding: "They have done the school proud."

There is also a beautiful video on Coverack Life's Facebook page of the children singing the Bill Withers' classic 'Lean on Me' with pictures from Ukraine. "The children gave it their all," said Lorraine.

The donations were taken to Mullion School car park to be transported to Bristol, and then handed over to the Romanian and Ukraine collection for the south west.
