A long-held dream has finally come true for the founder of a charity in Helston that has opened a dedicated shop in the town.
Your Voice, Cornwall had been operating out of a pop-up shop within The Closet in Wendron Street since the start of December, but founder Natasha Long had always wanted a shop of its very own.
That ambition was finally realised on Monday, when the charity opened a full-time shop at top of Coinagehall Street.
Natasha said: "We are finally opening the doors to our first ‘forever’ home.
"We have a gorgeous range of high street brands, high end names and everything in between. Clothes, shoes, accessories and books, with a little bit of bric a brac thrown in. "
Natasha described it as having "boutique vibes, with charity shop prices."
Money raised in the shop helps the charity to continue providing support for women’s mental health, with groups held across Cornwall.
"No big salaries, new goods, or money floating a round the country – just safe, confidential and supportive spaces for women who are impacted by poor mental health," added Natasha.
She said the opening day had gone incredibly well – so much that it needed more donations.
Natasha said on Monday, after the launch day: "On behalf of the team at Your Voice, Cornwall Pre-Loved Boutique a huge thank you to everyone who popped in and supported our opening day.
"We are overwhelmed at the positive feedback. It’s made the long slog so worthwhile.
"We were worried that we might experience some backlash for bringing 'another charity shop' to the town, but it’s wonderful to have so much support and recognition of our worthwhile organisation.
"We can’t wait to see more new faces, and familiar ones."
She said the shop was looking for new donations, including good quality clothes – for men, women and children – books, jewellery and accessories, collectibles and gifts, DVDs, vinyl in good condition, and homewares such as cushions and pictures.
Items it is unable to accept include linen and bedding, games, toys, Christmas decorations, furniture and electrical items.
