The latest weekly Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly indicate 7,120 new people testing positive in the seven days up to Tuesday, March 29, down on last week's total of 8,493.
The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay.
The weekly case rate average has risen to 1,463.9 cases per 100,000 people, up from last week's figure of 1,322.6.
For this figure, the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 146,652.
The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK in the last seven days is 574,027, down from 592,459 last week. This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 20,986,171.
When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall up to Tuesday, March 22 – the most recent data given by the government updated weekly - there were 116 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals (up from 93 last week) with three patients in ventilation beds, and 38 patients in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust hospitals (up from 23) with none on ventilation beds.
National healthcare update shows a total of 19,118 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of Monday, March 28, the most recent data, up from 16,272 last week, with 363 in ventilation beds, up from 299.
The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic has risent to 415.
The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic has risen to 343 with a further 13 deaths reported since the last update. The Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust has reported 72 in total since the start.
The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – has risen to 739 deaths, with 13 additional deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case as of Tuesday, March 29.
The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is updated weekly and sits at 817 from data available this week.
Within the last seven days, the overall UK figures show 1,051 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result.
Total UK deaths since the start of the pandemic now stands at 164,974 as of Tuesday, March 29.
The latest vaccination figures show a total 52,788,065 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 49,404,026 had their second dose. A total of 38,776,246 have had their booster jab or third dose.
In Cornwall 462,902 have had their first dose, 441,543 their second and 366,562 their booster.
