Five Cornwall restaurants have been included in the SquareMeal top 100 list for independent restaurants.
The highest-placed restaurant on the list was Paul Ainsworth at No. 6, which was just outside the top 10 in the eleventh position.
Based in Padstow, this venue was joined by Kota in Porthleven (53rd place), Coombeshead Farm at Lewannick (64th place), Appleton's in Fowey (93rd place) and Outlaw's New Road in Port Isaac (98th place).
SquareMeal is the UK’s leading independent restaurant guide and deliberately excludes London restaurants to allow venues from around the UK to be recognised.
They bring the list together using thousands of reader votes and their own expert critics, featuring everything from fine dining experiences through to farm-to-table restaurants and gastropubs.
Describing Paul Ainsworth at No. 6 they wrote: "Paul Ainsworth at No. 6 is a Michelin-starred restaurant, housed in a Georgian townhouse in Padstow. The primary focus of this restaurant is celebrating local Cornish produce by crafting it into elegant, modern British dishes."
Meanwhile, Kota in Porthleven was commended for the work of New Zealander chef Jude Kereama who "weaves flavours from his multi-cultural heritage with incredible local produce."
Coombeshead Farm in Launceston was praised for all things homegrown, such as its house-cured rare-breed meat, plus its garden-grown fruit and vegetables.
Appleton's in Fowey earned points for its "simple, unpretentious dishes" whilst Outlaw's New Road in Port Isaac, from chef Nathan Outlaw, featured for its "top-class fish cookery".
