FALMOUTH police say they are tackling anti-social behaviour in the town by directing officers to patrol “hotspot” areas where problems are occurring.

This comes after incidents in the town including groups of youths who have allegedly targeted members of the public and vehicles with eggs.

Biker Mark Davison claimed a gang of four to five males threatened him after he stopped to check for damage after an egg was thrown at him in Avenue Road near Falmouth town railway station.

He said when he confronted the youths they approached him with one carrying what appeared to be a stick or a bat before taking his helmet and running off.

The Packet has also been told about another incident on April 8 when a gang of children are reported to have pelted several pedestrians with eggs from the roof of the building above the EE shop in Market Street.

There have also been reports of bricks being thrown at the windows of houses.

Responding to the reports Inspector Andy Shorten from Falmouth police said: “We are aware of a number of reports of anti-social behaviour involving juveniles in Falmouth over recent weeks and, as a result, we have put in place a primary tasking which directs officers to patrol hotspot areas in which these incidents are occurring.

“The local Neighbourhood Policing Team are working closely with the ASB Team from the council, the youth offending service and local schools in order to identify those responsible and take appropriate action.

"I would encourage anyone who witnesses any incidents and anyone who has any information about incidents of anti-social behaviour in Falmouth, to contact 101.”

The police said they were aware of the egg throwing incident on April 8 and officers had attended and carried out an area search but no one was located.
