One of Cornwall’s leading creative agencies, Nixon Design, is celebrating 30 years by transferring ownership to its employees.

The Hayle-based agency, launched in 1992, is now owned entirely by its team after the formation of an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).

The agency’s story started with a one-man graphic design studio set up on Martin Nixon’s Falmouth kitchen table.

Now, 30 years later, Nixon Design comprises a team of 13 employees across design, web development and content services, in the impressive surroundings of White’s Warehouse in Hayle.

Nixon’s client list includes well-known local and national names, such as Red Hotels, St Michael’s Mount, Ginsters, Luxury Family Hotels, and the UK-wide boatfolk marinas group.

The company’s reputation has been built on decades of hard work and creative talent, led by Martin and his team, many of whom began their careers, like him, as students at Falmouth University.

By taking this step, Nixon is joining the likes of Riverford Organics, Aardman Animations and John Lewis in giving its team a meaningful say in how the company is run.

Other benefits of an EOT include improved employee wellbeing, higher productivity and greater business resilience.

Though Martin will no longer own Nixon Design, it won’t be the end of his role within the company.

He’ll continue as a Director of the EOT, joining forces with Operations Director Laura Ward, Creative Director Diggory Gordon and Non-Executive Director Robert Salvoni, and forming an integral part of its management team.

Speaking about his decision to transfer ownership, Martin said: "Nixon’s team has always been one of its leading strengths, and what really sets us apart.

"Thinking about the future, as we reach the incredible milestone of 30 years, I wanted the company to pass into the hands of those people who’ll truly value what we’ve achieved, and think of new and innovative ways to continue our success.

"I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve collectively created, and I know the company is in safe hands with its biggest supporters.

"I’m excited to see what the next 30 years have in store."
