Three people have died as a result of a serious collision over the weekend from which one person fled the scene.
Police have now confirmed that three people previously described as being seriously injured had died during the collision at Ruddlemoor, St Austell, in the early hours of Sunday, May 1.
Officers were notified of the single-car collision on the B3274 just after 1.30am. Fire and ambulance crews also attended.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Three people died at the scene and officers are carrying out enquiries to confirm their identities and locate their next of kin.
"A fourth person who left the scene has since been located."
Yesterday police launched an appeal to find the missing person, with MPS Tina Green, of the Serious Collisions Investigation team, saying at the time: “We are seeking the public’s support and assistance to identify the fourth person who left the scene. They may have suffered serious injuries, so it is vital that he is located."
The road was closed in both directions for a number of hours.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing for information from the public.
