A SCHOOL in Truro has been shortlisted for a national award, with winners being announced later in the year.
The High School Truro has been shortlisted for the Subject Leader of the Year (Secondary) award for Head of STEM, Jon Dean.
The school reports that Jon’s determination to provide students at the school with access to everything from specialist medical training programmes to engineering courses and astronomy impressed the judges.
Headmistress Sarah Matthews said: "I am absolutely delighted that Jon’s passion and dedication to providing opportunities for girls in science has been recognised in this way.
"From bringing Lewis Hamilton’s Petronus car to school to inspire our motorsports teams to linking up with the European Space Agency to teach space science to young people from schools across the county, his commitment is inspirational."
The panel of awards judges include school leaders, inspectors and education researchers.
