As all involved in Helston Flora Day 2022 rest their aching feet, spare a thought for the members of Helston Town Band who have put in more miles than most.
While the dancers only have to make it around the town once - or twice in the case of the Morning and Evening Dance cohort - the band is involved in all four of the day's dances.
It's been said that only Helston Town Band really knows how to play the Flora Dance tune properly, and who could argue, with the tune sacred to Helston – and not even Terry Wogan could change that.
It's been passed down through generations and never committed to manuscript, to ensure it remains only within the band.
Saturday saw the full breadth of ages take part, from some as young five through to 87-year-old Russell Harvey playing his 74th Flora Day.
They were led throughout by musical director Kevin Johns, all dressed in their new uniforms funded by the town - and bought two years ago, but now only getting their first outing thanks to the pandemic.
