Cornwall Council receives dozens of planning applications every week seeking permission for everything from cutting down trees to building new housing estates.

All applications are submitted to the council and are then validated before being published by the council on its planning portal.

Here you can find details of all planning applications which have been submitted or decided by the council. For those applications yet to be decided members of the public can also submit their comments about the proposals – whether you are in support or opposition.

We have picked out some of the more interesting applications from more than 100 which have been validated by the council in the last week.

Coastal retreat

Plans have been submitted for the construction of a coastal retreat, along with the conversion of an existing property into an annexe and boathouse. The plans are for Mariner’s Friend in Hawker’s Cove, Padstow.

Under the proposals the applicants want to convert a former lifeboat house back into a boathouse after it was previously converted into a home. In addition they want to convert a connected building into an annexe which would have a lounge area, toilet facilities and a study.

In addition there are plans for a brand new house – the coastal retreat – which would be built on land behind the boathouse. That site was previously the location of military buildings which have long been demolished.

A design and access statement explains that the works to the former lifeboat house would be sympathetic to the historic elements of the building after a pre-application suggested that planning permission might not be granted due to the impact the earlier plans would have on the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The new plans have been validated by the council and no date has been set for when a decision will be made. For more details and to comment on the plans search for application PA22/04155.

New homes in Lostwithiel

A former garage in Lostwithiel could be demolished and replaced with new homes and apartments. A planning application has been submitted for the brownfield site off Grenville Road in the town.

The building had been used as a motor repair shop by Duchy Motors until it moved out to a new location in 2010. The site was then used as a builder’s store by a housing developer.

Under the new plans the industrial building would be demolished and replaced with a new building with four houses and four apartments. Two of the houses would have three bedrooms and two would have two bedrooms each; the apartments would all be one-bedroom properties.

The houses would have two car parking spaces each and the apartments would have a single parking space each. To view the plans or submit a comment on the application search for planning application PA22/04210.

Additional solar panels

An application has been submitted for plans to increase the number of solar panels in place next to Lobbs Farm Shop at Heligan. The plans are for an extra 40 panels to go alongside panels which have been in place since 2013.

The proposals are to add an extra row of panels behind the three rows already in place in a field next to the car park which serves Lobbs Farm Shop and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

A planning statement submitted with the application states: “The existing modules have been in place for nine years and there have been no adverse comments from the thousands of visitors to the site regarding their visual impact but there have been many people acknowledge and appreciate the sustainable ethos of the shop and support the on site renewable energy generating carbon free energy to power the shop’s energy requirements.”

No date has been set for when a decision will be made on the application. To view the plans or make a comment search for application number PA22/04409.
