The Working Boat pub, based in the heart of Falmouth, invited the local community to take part in their popular beach cleaning event - and over 30 turned up!
The clean-up on Monday, May 9 in association with Cornish charity Surfer’s Against Sewage was part of its Million Mile Clean campaign- the largest and most effective volunteer beach cleaning project in the UK.
The event saw over 30 participants turn up from the pub’s hotel, The Greenbank, its sister hotel, The Alverton, as well as members from the local community.
Following in the success of previous years, The Working Boat’s first beach clean of 2022 didn’t disappoint.
Volunteers managed to collect over 20 full bags of litter from the coastline as well as the surrounding areas.
As a thanks for all their efforts, participants of this event were treated to a refreshing pint of Atlantic Pale Ale at the end of the day, which was kindly donated by Rock based, Sharp’s Brewery.
This intrinsically Cornish company are huge advocates for keeping local beaches clean so were keen to offer their help to this important cause.
The kitchen brigade at The Greenbank also kindly donated a selection of fresh pasties as well, as a thank you to all volunteers for all of their hard work.
Manager of The Working Boat pub, Ryan Blake said, “I’m very lucky to have so many like-minded people around me within the pub, both hotels, The Greenbank and The Alverton, as well as the local community.
"It’s always nice to share the same goals to keep our coastline's pristine. I’d like to say a huge thanks for everyone who volunteered their time on the ninth and express my admiration for participants that continue their efforts to help keep our coast clean. I look forward to similar ventures in the future.”
