Two Home Service Advisors at a Falmouth care home have taken part in a sponsored walk in order to raise money for a dementia charity.
Hugh Dickinson & Adele Beaton, Home Services Advisors at Falmouth Court Care Home in Falmouth & Kenwyn Care Home in Truro have taken part in a sponsored walk between the two Homes from Truro to Falmouth to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society during Dementia Action Week.
Residents and staff were all very supportive and were there to cheer on the participants as they began the fundraising challenge at Kenwyn as well as being there to congratulate them when they finished at Falmouth Court several hours later.
Hugh, Home Services Advisor at Falmouth Court Care Home, said: "Taking part in this challenge has been a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home has been behind us all the way.
"It’s for such an important cause.
"I’m very glad to be able to do my bit to raise further awareness and money for the charity."
The two raised a grand total of £380 by completing the challenge, which will be donated to Alzheimer’s Society.
The sponsored walk isn't the first charitable act from the care home this year, with staff putting on breakfast for early-rising emergency service workers who don't always have the time to grab breakfast at home before they start the day.
Falmouth Court care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, who say they are committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals.
Falmouth Court provides residential care and dementia care for 66 residents from respite care to long-term stays.
