THIS extended Bank Holiday weekend to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee in and around towns in Cornwall.

Penzance, Truro, Redruth and Camborne are all hosting events which will take place this weekend.

Starting off in Penzance, events will be starting from Thursday when the town crier will be taking the streets on a e-bike to perform an official proclamation cry starting at 2pm at Market House on Market Jew Street. The town crier will then visit Jubilee Pool, Newlyn War Memorial and then Mousehole Harbour.

Then at 9.45pm there will be four Beacons being lit at St Mary’s Church, Humphry Davy School, Newlyn Harbour and Mousehole Harbour.

On Saturday Penzance will host a Communi-Tea Party and it will be a free event for everyone to attend. Complimentary cream teas and hot drinks.

St Michael's Mount will also celebrate the Jubilee with another Beacon lighting event. On Thursday a specially constructed Beacon will be lit at 9.15pm on the Mount and on Saturday there is a special opening of the Mount’s gardens in aid of the National Garden Scheme (NGS) from 1pm until 4.30pm.

Rounding off the festivities on Sunday the St Aubyn Foundation, the family’s own charity which supports local good causes, will be helping to stage The Big Lunch with Whole Again Communities and Treneere Team Spirit on the Princess Alexandra Recreation Ground, Penzance. Tickets for the special garden opening are limited in number and must be purchased online in advance by visiting stmichaelsmount.co.uk.

On Saturday, from 6pm, more than 60 craft from Marazion and the surrounding areas of Cornwall will take part in a round St Michael’s Mount flotilla as part of the celebrations to commemorate the Queens’s Platinum Jubilee.

Weather and operational considerations permitting, the organised fleet will include the St Michael’s Mount State Barge, Mount ferryboats, the RNLI Penlee lifeboats, luggers, Marazion gig boats, Marazion sailing club boats and three groups of paddleboarders from Ocean High, the Hoxton Special and GoSUP groups.

Truro will be hosting their own Jubilee celebrations. Starting on Wednesday, there will be a chance to sample some of Tregothnan Estate's teas, iced teas and biscuits. They will also be bringing samples of their Cornish clotted cream and their own range of jams. Tickets cost £7.50 and are available from the Truro Visitor Information Centre, by going into the store on Boscawen Street, calling on 01872 274 555, or emailing tic@truro.gov.uk Pre booking is advised, but not essential.

On Thursday, town crier Lionel Knight will be giving his proclamation on Boscawen Street.

Elsewhere in the city, Raymond’s Amusements will be on Lemon Quay throughout the day on both Thursday and Friday with children’s fairground rides.

Celebrations continue into the weekend with Truro Farmers' Market’s Jubilee Market, and Truro’s BID’s Hobbyist Day, both taking place on Saturday. The farmers' market will adopt a street-party theme and will be on Lemon Quay from 9am to 4pm. There will also be the addition of live music, as well as children’s entertainment.

There will be street entertainment throughout the day, and at midday Kesson Tus singers will perform in Lemon Street Market.

From 10.30am join John Brolly from the Minack Theatre, who will be giving a storytelling experience in the Truro Community Library Garden, to the rear of the library. Whilst this is a free event, it will be ticketed, available to collect from the library enquiry desk.

Jubilee celebrations will conclude on Sunday with the Truro Antiques and Collectables Market, as well as the Big Jubilee Garden Party from 11am in Victoria Gardens, featuring garden games, story corner, and family friendly activities. Enjoy performances from 11.30am in the bandstand by local youth companies and bands. The event is free to attend, and no booking is required.

At 2.30pm the City of Truro Band will be performing in the Bandstand as part of the weekly Bandstand Concert Series, organised by Truro City Council.

Redruth will be holding a family fun day on Saturday with a bouncy castle, children's games, rides, food stalls and more.

Camborne will be hosting circus games and performances, park games and entertainment. There are refreshments to enjoy outside in the sun, and people can take their own picnic. People are being asked to wear red, white and blue, and there will be prizes for the best Jubilee themed outfit.
