In and around Falmouth and Penryn there will Jubilee events taking place across the four-day bank holiday.

In Falmouth, celebrations start on Thursday with a Beacon Lighting at 9.30pm at Pendennis Castle, which will welcome visitors from 8.30pm.

Friday will see a Jubilee Parade start from The Moor at 12.30pm and finish in Events Square/Discovery Quay. Everyone is welcome to this event.

On Saturday, June 4 there will be a street party in Market Street from 1pm to 4pm, and while this is predominately for children, it is still very much open to the wider public. Market Street will be closed to traffic from 11am with the 11.04 town shuttle bus being the last vehicle through, although access will be given to emergency vehicles if required.

Businesses are encouraged to dress up their frontage and trade outside.

On Sunday there will be a Jubilee Picnic in the Park, hosted by Source FM in Kimberley Park. There will entertainment throughout the day and people are welcome to take blankets and a picnic.

St Michael's Resort will be holding a Jubilee Garden Party on Friday from 12.30pm until 8pm, when there will be an acoustic artist playing and drinks served from Gyllyngvase Garden Bar, with a barbecue.

Penryn has also planned events for the Bank Holiday Weekend. On Wednesday there will be a Royal Garden Party at 2pm in the Temperance Hall, hosted by the mayor of Penryn with the Penryn Forget-Me-Not Singers followed by afternoon tea; dress up and wear a hat, and take along a royal mug or plate.

Also at the Temperance Hall, at 2pm on Thursday, will be a Royal Tea Dance with Ron Bunyan, free to attend.

That evening at 7pm at Exchequer Quay will be Royal Waterside Pageant with live music by ‘The Prevention’ and at 9.15pm the lighting of the Queen’s Beacon. ‘The Queen’ will arrive by a flotilla of boats at the quay at 7pm.

On Friday at 7pm, the Penryn Mayor's Charity Dinner and Dance will be at the Falmouth Hotel. Tickets will be £35 and available to purchase from Penryn Town Council; email linda.body@penryn-tc.gov.uk

Saturday at 7pm will see the Penryn Town Jubilee Carnival. Meet at the Memorial Gardens 6.30pm, with Falmouth Marine Band in attendance. There will be a road closure until 8.30pm.

Finally on Sunday, from 1pm, there will be a ‘Royal Party in the Park’ at Trelawney Park. Gates open at 12.30pm for a 1pm start, with live music from the Motown Pirates & The Qwest. Refreshments available or bring a picnic. There will be Punch & Judy at 1.30pm and 3pm, with doughnuts and sweets for the kids.

Mylor Yacht Club will also celebrate the Queen's Jubilee on Friday as they will host a ‘bring and share’ afternoon tea on the terrace. There will be chance to experience a 1950s street party, themed outfits optional; guests are asked to bring along a plate of food, and there will be tables on the field with the food laid out.

In Mylor itself there will be a ‘Right Royal Festive Tea’ on the Playing Fields, starting at 2pm on Sunday, with a free plated tea and a non-alcoholic Platinum Punch. There will be stalls, fair rides and activities and entertainment.

In Mawnan all this week there will be an exhibition Mawnan Through 70 Years at the Methodist Hall Schoolroom, between 10am and 6pm. On Wednesday at 6.30pm Mawnan Football Team will play Mawnan Cricket Team in a tournament of ball skills.

On Thursday there will be a parade of crowns from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, when adults and children will parade through the village wearing their own craft crowns, starting at Carwinion Playing Field and ending at Mawnan Memorial Hall for afternoon tea.

Friday is Movie Night in the marquee at Carwinion Playing Field; the children’s movie Tangled starts at 5pm followed at 7pm by A Royal

Night Out.

Saturday will be the Jubilee Garden Jaunt between 12pm and 5pm, organised by Mawnan WI, exploring the village's gardens. Maps and tickets will be on sale in The Square on Saturday, with funds raised for Children’s Hospice South West.

Also on Saturday, Mawnan Rocks will be performing at Carwinion Playing Field, with a children’s disco and magician from 5pm to 7pm, followed by the village's resident band from 7pm until midnight.

Finally on Sunday, the Platinum Jubilee Lunch at Carwinion Playing Field kicks off at 11am with live entertainment from Swamp

Circus and Jonah’s Lift, plus games. From 12pm to 2pm there will be a hog roast and salad bar for a small extra cost, cash only.
