PORTHLEVEN Recreation Ground was full of happy smiling faces on Thursday as The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations kicked off with a Big Jubilee Lunch.
On one of the hottest days of the year so far, Porthleven Moors Recreation Ground was full of families and friends with picnics enjoying the royal celebrations with picnics, fun garden games for the children and a duck race.
This was one of many events taking place across Cornwall to celebrate the Jubilee, and everyone at the Recreation Ground seemed to be enjoying the celebrations.
The Duck Race took place at 11.30am and the winner of the race was Jack, receiving some sweets from the mayor of Porthleven. After this, the children then took part in a sack race.
Rachel Armstrong, who was at the picnic with her friends and children, said: "We had a lovely day, the kids enjoyed themselves – especially the activities put on for them.
"It had a very family, friendly atmosphere and it was arranged on the green which meant the kids also had the skate park and the park to enjoy as well as being able to take part in the Jubilee games."
Another guest at the picnic said: "It was lovely to see people get together again after the past 18 months due to the pandemic, especially to celebrate the Queen's amazing achievement."
There will be more events taking place in and around Helston over the next few days. Helston Central Methodist Church will be holding their Garden Jubilee Party from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday, while Sunday will see The Jubilee's Big Lunch take place at Helston Boating Lake from 12pm.
