THE dull weather didn't stop guests celebrating the Jubilee in Helston yesterday – as Helston Central Methodist Church carried on their celebrations, inside and outside of the church.
Although the weather wasn't as nice as it has been throughout the Bank Holiday extended weekend so far, the church and Epworth Hall was full of members of the public, who wanted to join in with the celebrations.
Opened by Miss Ismay Rogers, Rev Danny Reed said he was sad that the celebrations weren't fully outside, but was happy that there was plenty to see and do inside, adding: "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate, and it's nice to get everyone together."
More than 225 cream teas were prepared and there was stalls including a book stall and plant stall, face painting and games for the children to enjoy, including hook a duck and splat the rat.
At 3pm they held a fancy dress competition for the children, judged by Martin Matthews and Janet Spargo. Edith, Sennen and Polly all took home first place awards, which was a bag of sweets.
After this Helston Town Band Juniors performed for the guests, playing classics such as 'Wellerman', 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' and 'Mission Impossible'.
