A 'prolific shoplifter' who stole six bottles of wine from a Spar Store in Falmouth has been sentenced by a court in Cornwall.
Jack Edward Pickering, 37, of Trevethan Road in Falmouth appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates' Court on Thursday, June 23 on one count of theft from a shop.
The offence occurred on April 26 in Falmouth when Pickering stole six bottles of wine worth £70 from a Spar Store.
Pickering pleaded guilty to the offence.
During his sentencing, Pickering was committed to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 12 months, with the court stating that the reason for the sentence was due to seriousness of the offence and the fact that Pickering was a 'prolific shoplifter.'
Alongside the suspended sentence, Pickering was made to pay compensation of £130 as well as compensation of £85 for another offence that was taken into account.
He was also made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128 and pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The court noted how two other offences had been admitted and taken in to account and that Pickering's guilty plea had been taken in to account when imposing the sentence.
