A NEW airline partner will be landing in Cornwall this summer.
Cornwall Airport Newquay has said it is delighted it will be welcoming new airline partner, Edelweiss, to operate weekly, direct flights to and from Zurich this summer.
The service, which launched on July 3, 2022, will be offering direct flights to the popular Swiss destination every Sunday until September.
The airport has said the route will provide easy access for Swiss tourists looking to visit Cornwall and the South West, as well as offering a convenient option for people in Cornwall who might want to fly direct to Switzerland without having to travel too far from their homes to do so.
It also commented on the various attractions and destinations people might want to visit in Zurich, from the historic old town to Zurich-West, the blue waters of Lake Zurich and even snow-capped mountains.
Amy Smith, Marketing and Business Performance Manager, said: "We’re delighted to welcome Edelweiss as our newest airline partner with this exciting new route between Newquay and Zurich.
"The route will provide easy access for Swiss tourists wanting to visit our beautiful part of the world but also offer a convenient option for those in Cornwall wanting to fly direct to Switzerland locally."
The new flights come after Senior Cornwall Council officers came under fire and were forced to apologise earlier in the year for failing to assess proposals for a new air service between Newquay and London against the impact it could have on climate change.
