ONE of Cornwall's MPs has joined a host of other members of parliament in calling for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to resign.
Derek Thomas, MP for St Ives, West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, has taken to social media to join a growing number of MPs calling for the under-pressure Prime Minister to go.
In a statement posted on to his Facebook profile, Derek Thomas said: "A number of decent MPs have now quit the jobs they loved and committed themselves to.
"Rishi and Sajid are obviously the best known figures but add to this Will Quince, Jo Church, Victoria Atkins, Alex Chalk, John Glen, Robin Walker and Stuart Andrew.
"Surely the PM must realise he has to go?
"There are several others, many of whom I know personally as dedicated public servants, who were effective in their work and deserve to be serving in Government.
"We need someone who has the the conviction, strength of character and vision to bring the country together.

"People have the right to believe and feel that a Conservative Government is on their side, working for them and in the national interest.
"Whilst I have no idea what Boris plans to do, we must find a way to restore order and integrity across Government - it is in the national interest."
So far, there have been 31 resignations within the past 24 hours, including two cabinet members, 14 ministers, and 12 parliamentary private secretaries.
Boris Johnson's supporters are growing thinner and thinner on the ground, with Alister Jack, Scotland Secretary, saying in a statement that he was "sorry to see good colleagues resign", but "I fully support the Prime Minister."
Nadine Dorries, Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Secretary wrote on Twitter that she was "100 (emoji) behind Boris Johnson, the PM who consistently gets all the big decisions right."
Liz Truss, Foreign Secretary, is also backing the Prime Minister according to an ally who said she was "100% behind the PM."
